Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about &Swapp

General

What is &Swapp?

&Swapp is a platform built for young professionals who want to temporarily swap homes with other community members around the world. It is an affordable, friendly way to travel while keeping a home base.

Is &Swapp free to use?

Signing up and browsing listings is free. Each swap has a flat fee regardless of duration — whether it is a weekend or two weeks, the price stays the same.

Who can use &Swapp?

&Swapp is especially designed for mobile young professionals. However, the platform is open to everyone. To use it, you must be of legal age and able to prove you have a home to swap (for example through home insurance, which our team verifies).

⚙️ How it works

How does a simultaneous swap work?

In a simultaneous swap, you and your partner exchange homes for exactly the same dates. For example: you stay at their place from January 10 to 20, and they stay at yours from January 10 to 20. It is the most common and straightforward type of swap.

What is a non-simultaneous swap?

A non-simultaneous swap offers more flexibility: the exchange periods do not overlap. For example, you host your partner in August, and you stay at their place in October. It requires more trust but gives you more freedom.

How do I propose a swap?

Browse listings, find a home that interests you, then click "Propose a swap." Enter your preferred dates and send your request. The host will receive your proposal and can respond.

Can I cancel a swap?

Yes, but we strongly encourage you to honor your commitments. If you must cancel, let your partner know as early as possible (at least 2 weeks in advance). Repeated cancellations can affect your reputation on the platform.

🔒 Safety & trust

How do you verify users?

All users must provide proof of identity (ID card, passport, driver's license) and proof of residence (home insurance, lease agreement, etc.). "Super Swapper" profiles have completed several successful swaps and have positive reviews from the community.

What happens if something goes wrong during a swap?

Our support team is available 7 days a week if an issue arises. We also recommend keeping your own home insurance that covers home swaps. In case of a dispute, we offer mediation between both parties.

Is my personal data protected?

Yes. We never share your full contact details until you accept a swap. All your data is encrypted and GDPR-compliant. See our privacy policy for more details.

💡 Practical tips

Do I need to leave my keys?

Yes — you should arrange key handoff with your swap partner. Common options include meeting in person, a secure lockbox, or leaving keys with a trusted neighbor. Discuss this directly with your partner before the swap.

How should I prepare my home before a swap?

Clean thoroughly, put away personal belongings, leave fresh linens, and share practical info (WiFi, trash pickup, emergency contacts). A short welcome guide with your local recommendations is always appreciated!

Can I use my host's belongings?

Yes, but with respect. The kitchen, appliances, and furniture are generally available. For anything personal (clothes, toiletries), always ask first. Mutual respect is the foundation of a successful swap.
